About Us
Inspired by Compassion. Founded on Purpose.
our late parents, P. M. Joseph and Mariamma Joseph
ROTA Foundation was established to continue the enduring legacy of compassion and selfless service left by our late parents, P. M. Joseph and Mariamma Joseph. Deeply inspired by Mother Teresa and privileged to have shared a close relationship with her from the formative years of the Missionaries of Charity in the early 1950s, they devoted their lives to helping the poor and marginalized. Their values remain the guiding force behind our mission to serve humanity with love, humility, and dedication.
Our Founder: Mathew Joseph – A Life Shaped by Service
The story of ROTA FOUNDATION begins with its founder, Mathew Joseph, whose lifelong dedication to helping others was influenced by a unique and deeply personal experience.
Growing up in Kolkata, Mathew Joseph was privileged to witness the work of one of the world’s most admired humanitarian figures, Mother Teresa. His family shared a close association with her mission, and in 1957, Mother Teresa established a school for underprivileged children within the compound of his family home at Bedford Lane,Kolkata
From an early age, he observed her unwavering commitment to serving those most in need. Over the years, he had the rare privilege of knowing her personally, travelling with her, and working alongside her in service to the poor and marginalized.
These experiences left a profound impact on his life and instilled in him a deep understanding of compassion, humility, and the responsibility to serve others.
